The June BVFF outing will be at Silver Creek, near Sun Valley. The Wood River Basin received an enormous snow pack this year, and the Wood River will likely be running very high in June. Silver Creek (a spring creek) should be sheltered from raging runoff. The additional water should be good for the creek, which has suffered from low water in the past drought years.
The group will be camping at the Idaho Fish & Game campground at the Hayspur Fish Hatchery, just off highway 20—about 8 miles past the junction of Highway 20 and Highway 75 (North side). The camp ground is a large grass meadow with a few small trees (Beware: Russian Olive), and can accommodate tents, campers, or small trailers. There is water available, and a vault toilet. It is first come, first served for space, and no fee.
For those with RV’s desiring hook-up services, the store in Picabo runs/manages an RV site, located across the road from the store in Picabo.

THE FISHING
Due to spring run-off, it is likely Silver Creek will have the most accessible fishing water. Hayspur camp ground is in relative close proximity to a number of access points on Silver Creek:
Floating Silver Creek in the Nature Conservancy area is a great way to fish the creek. However, be aware that Idaho Fish & Game regulations REQUIRE that you use a float tube-- one that places you down in the water. Pontoon style kick boats do not meet this requirement.
