Fly Tier:  Don Ordes

Don is a semi-retired natural gas facility consultant, and has tied flies and fly-fished since self-taught as a boy in New Orleans, La.  From rudimentary flies and cane-pole rods, Don has progressed over the years from fly-fishing for bluegills to trout to dorado to sailfish and marlin on a 14 wt with his own designer flies.  His favorite flies are all of them, but especially flies that have an artistic aspect.  Simple flies catch fish, but fancy flies are fun to tie and they also catch fish.  Don has tied at sports and fly shows since the early 80s, and has been a regular tier at many shows for decades.

Speaker: Tom Governale

Great Slave Lake - Northwest Territories, Canada

Great Slave Lake is located approximately 1700 miles due north of Boise and 250 miles south of the Arctic Circle. It harbors a vast number of trophy Arctic Grayling, Northern Pike, Lake Trout and Lake Whitefish. Tom Governale will share his Great Slave Lake adventure through a power point presentation and discuss the logistics of travel, accommodations, flies, equipment, fishing techniques and fish.

Tom has lived in Boise for 33 + years and recently retired from the City of Boise Parks & Recreation Department. Originally from the mid-west, Tom has a passion for pursuing cold, warm and saltwater species with a fly rod. In addition to Pacific and Atlantic salmon and numerous trout, char and saltwater species, he counts bass, northern pike, alligator gar, carp, catfish, walleye, crappie, bluegill and a number of other warm water species on his fly fishing catch list.
