The 2019 Umpteenth Annual BVFF Whitefish Derby will held on the South Fork of the Boise River on the third weekend of February

9:30 AM - Sign In at Village Boat Launch
10:00 AM - Fishing Starts
2:00 PM – Derby Ends
this is critical! the absolute cut off for entries will be 2pm sharp. no late entries will be accepted. so make sure you stop fishing and allow yourself enough time to get back to the weigh in before this time.
2:00 to 3:00 PM - Lunch will be provided for ALL and consist of Chili, Hot Dogs, chips and soda provided by BVFF.

Contest:
Prizes will ONLY be awarded to BVFF members in good standing (dues paid for 2019) Prizes for the 2 largest (by length) whitefish will be awarded.

Fishing:
As almost exclusively bottom feeders, whitefish will readily take a variety of nymphs, especially those tied with bead heads. A few of the more popular patterns are; prince nymph, pheasant tail, zug bug, two-bit hooker, zebra midge, hare’s ear, and copper johns. Fly size ranges between 10 and 16 with size 12 being a good place to start.

If you are not a member, sign up for membership on-line ($25/year) so you can compete for Derby prizes. Membership allows you access to the Members Only web pages.
