It's EARTH DAY and time to take care of our beloved Boise River!
BVFF is joining Idaho River United on their annual Cleanup on the Boise River, Saturday April 23rd. We will be focusing on the area below the Glenwood Bridge where we did our gravel augmentation last winter.
HERE'S WHAT YOU DO:
1. Register for this BVFF event, so we know how many folks are coming.
2. Register for the IRU event HERE.
- Enter "BVFF" for the group/team.
- Choose a starting point as Glenwood.
- You will get an email from IRU with instructions.
3. Meet at the greenbelt parking lot at the corner of Glenwood and Marigold, for materials and instructions at 10AM Saturday, April 23rd. Then we will carpool 2 miles downstream to the "BVFF Side Channel" area. If you are late, come directly to the cleanup site.
- BRING YOUR WADERS as we want to get trash out of the river where we can.
- It is a good idea to bring some sunblock and water along.
CLEANUP AREA
We are cleaning up the river from the "New Dry Creek Diversion Dam" downstream to the pedestrian bridge at the head of Eagle Island. Access to the river is adjacent to 9000 W Duck Lake Dr, Garden City. Walk down the greenbelt access to the river. We are cleaning up from that point to the bridge that crosses the Boise River. Here is an article on the gravel augmentation that also contains a map to the location.
