Outing Host: Larry Donohoo Location: Mountain View Reservoir
Generally we schedule an outing for the South Fork of the Boise for October. But because of recent events (fires and blowouts) that won’t be possible this year. So I will be hosting the October club outing at Mountain View Reservoir in Duck Valley on 19th and 20th.
Talking to the tribal fish biologist, Mountain View has been fishing very well through September and most fish are ranging between 16 and 22 inches with a few big fish in the 24 inch range have been caught. Fish are being caught on leech patterns of various colors, Sheep Creek Specials, Wooly Buggers, and Stayner Ducktails. The tribe is also planning to stock the reservoirs the first of October once the water temperatures get below 54 degrees.
Fishing Permits can be purchased in Duck Valley at the store and tribal headquarters, the Fishing Hole in Bruneau, and in Boise at Sportsman’s Warehouse, Idaho Angler, and Cabela’s. Permits are $15 per day
Primitive campsites are $6 per day, and campsites with electricity and water are $15 per day and require a reservation. Reservations have the made at the Duck Valley Store (775) 757-3301. For further information contact Larry Donohoo at 208-939-0376 or lbdonohoo@msn.com.
