Dick Frencer February 4, 2025

Dick Frencer passed away on Wednesday Feb 4.  Dick was a founding member of BVFF in 1971, a long term board member, and Conservation Committee director.  Dick was an avid angler who also had a passion for koi, with several ponds at his house.

Richard Paul Frencer on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.  He was born May 15, 1943, in Newark, New Jersey, to John and Helene Stumpfl Frencer. He was the oldest of four children.

At the young age of 18, Richard left New Jersey to live with extended family in Southern California while he pursued higher education. He earned his Baccalaureate degree at California State in Pomona, California and then his Master’s degree in San Jose, California.  He worked for several years with Union Carbide Corporation in Danforth, CT which took him to the State of Idaho in 1969.  Richard was an outstanding salesman, agricultural consultant, and an independent food production professional.  He won many awards and had a passion for agriculture and the great outdoors.  Richard and Janis (his spouse) generously made an alumnus fund to create the Frencer Agricultural Career program in the Huntley College at Cal Poly, Pomona.

Richard was a loving and devoted husband to Janis Frencer for 55 years.  They shared a joyous and beautiful life since 1970 when they met in Caldwell, Idaho. He had a wonderful sense of humor as well as a passion for fly fishing, hunting, gardening and raising beautiful Koi fish.  He was active in the Boise Water Garden and Koi society in Boise and was a founding member of the Boise Fly Fishing Association. Richard was generous, kind, and enjoyed many friends.  He loved to play Santa at Christmas spreading joy to his many nieces, nephews, and church gatherings. Richard loved his dogs, Buck, Bess, and Coco who accompanied Richard and Janis on many adventures.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Janis  Hull-Frencer, Boise, Idaho., His two sisters, Cherl Miller ( Mike), and Gail Salzer, brother in law, John and Jean Hull, and multiple nieces and nephews.  He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, generosity, and joy will remain in all the hearts of all who knew him.

Richard is preceded in death by his brother John Frencer, his father, John Frencer, and his mother Helene Stumpfl.
