Fly Tier: Ken Folwell
I was born and raised here in Boise ,Idaho and have lived here for all of my 67 years. My wife and I have two sons and six grand children. I feel blessed to live in this area with such a wide diversity of things to do. I retired in 2005 after nearly 40 years working with AT&T and the Bell System. My father was an avid fisherman and I really cannot remember a time when I didn't fish. I was raised fishing with a spinning rod for trout, salmon, perch, crappie, and anything else that would pull my string. I started fly fishing around 1970 and have done so ever since. It was at that time that I started to tie flies, when I found that my boys could go through a lot of flies in a hurry. I also spent about 24 years fishing Bass tournaments in Idaho, Washington, Oregon, and California. I am no longer fishing tournaments, and I now fish at a much more relaxed pace.
Speaker: Michael Bantam. "Selecting the right fly line"
Michael has been on a fly fishing and casting journey since the 1990’s.
What started as a hobby while I traveled throughout the western United States as a fine art landscape photographer and teacher, soon turned into a full-time passion for the art of fly fishing and casting. In 2003, while I was working for a local fly fishing shop, I began to share my love of fly fishing by developing two casting programs for the beginning and intermediate fly fishing angler.
Over five years ago I began teaching my fly fishing and casting workshops through Cabela’s of Boise, Idaho where I used to work in the fly shop. A year later I introduced an Advanced Casting and Casting the Spey Workshop.
In 2012 I became a Federation of Fly Fishers Certified Casting Instructor.
