BT’s Fly Tying Friday: Soft Hackle for Wet & Dry Applications
Al Beatty will be “going into the weeds” using soft-hackle feathers for wet & dry fly pattern applications. One of them is the Cheapy, a fly Al learned from John Newbury in the early 80s and has used it as a “foundation” for a whole series of fly patterns. Those flies are so easy to tie, even a NEWBY at the VISE will be turning them out in short order. In the WEEKLY TIP, while Gretchen is away, Al will explore options with UV glue including less expensive products from those often used in the fly-fishing and tying industries.
