Zoom On The Fly – Friday, 17Jun22, 6:00 PM MDT
Demonstrating fly tying at an in-person show is not all that different from showing your prowess at the vise in the digital world. When you get right down to it, in both cases you are showing others how to tie flies. The difference is how you get to the event. In one instance, you travel in the real world via aircraft/vehicle and in the other you travel via broadband on the information superhighway. Navigating via broadband on the information superhighway is what we’ll explore over the next weeks.
Al Beatty will get you started on this new mode of travel by showing you how to use just a single laptop, your fly-tying tools, and the Zoom program to make a simple presentation to a group of people or share fly-tying ideas with a friend. The pattern is not as important as the demonstration method but in case you want the recipe, the fly Al will tie is an Iron Blue Wingless – a Poul Jorgensen wet fly. Here is the recipe:
Iron Blue Wingless
- Hook: Size 6 – 20, wet or dry
- Thread: Red (color of choice)
- Tail: Grizzly or blue due (match the hackle)
- Hackle: Grizzly or blue due (color of choice)
- Body: Gray dubbing (color of choice)
- Head: Red (color of choice)
