WOODY COVER PROJECT

WHAT:  A tree has fallen in the side channel behind Expo Idaho. The flood district has agreed to keep it for fish habitat but we need to cut it back and secure it to reduce flood risk. Once we are done at that site a few of us will drive down to BVFF's side channel to do some woody cover maintenance there, before flows come up the following week.

DATE: Friday, March 7th

TIME: 9AM

LOCATION:  Meet at the Ada County Greenbelt Parking Lot, corner of Marigold and Glenwood. We will walk upstream to the work-zone from there. (see map below)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Bring "Work Waders" or muck boots, as the area we are working in has a few inches of standing water.

  • Bring good work gloves as we will be hauling wood out of the side channel.

  • A chainsaw will be in operation.  Wearing sunglasses (eye protection) is recommended. You may want to bring ear plugs.
  • For information about the importance of woody cover and our work with the flood district, see this Conservation Blog Article.
